POD Portable.

This is POD Portable, A cylindrical light designed to be used anywhere.

The following is a 3D-printed prototype, with a production edition featuring a hook mount and rechargeable battery.

Rugged. Portable. POD.

Place POD on any magnetic surface, and it will snap into place, providing a firm hold wherever you need it.

Or use the included loop to dangle it from above.

A hard press on the top turns on the medium brightness mode, with a second press increasing it to its highest brightness mode.

A final press turns POD off.

Behind The Design.

POD Portable features 4 neodymium magnets to securely attach it to any surface.

It was designed to be assembled with 4 Phillips screws, so users could take it apart to access the replaceable coin cell battery.

In its redesign for production, the replaceable battery was swapped out for a rechargeable Li-ion, so these Phillips screws were placed with hex screws.

The front diffusion layer is made from a translucent ABS composite, allowing for high impact resistance and smooth diffusion of light via the 4 cool white LED’s.

When pressing down the top diffusion layer, the middle gap - finished in orange - is covered, showing the user the action was successful.

POD uses 4 compression springs which attach between the 4 screw mounts (located inside the orange rings) and the top diffusion layer. (Situated above a push action switch)

So, when you press the top of POD firmly, the springs compress and the top diffusion layer presses down the switch (middle component) triggering the first action.
